Doing business on different continents does not necessarily make you an effective global company. That requires a thoughtful exchange about leadership and values with each subsidiary or local office. The headquarters and the branches all benefit when everyone learns what works best in each local geography. The subsequent articulation of shared global values and desired attributes for the entire company builds a strong sense of cohesion.
This often starts with your mission and culture: what is part of your core identity, and what varies by organization or location? It is a complex process that takes time - and it is also enriching and enlivening for your entire organization.
Experiencing different cultures, and learning different languages, has always been a passion of mine. I have had the good fortune to live, work or study in Germany, Israel/Palestine, mainland China, Poland, and Brazil among other countries.
Working in the cultures of my clients’ various locations has allowed me to continue broadening my own worldview. This leads me to work with others to build expansive business cultures that capitalize on the best of each part of the organization.
“Jeanette was instrumental in our integration with our international colleagues, including our German parent company, as well as with our US staff from different geographical regions of the US.” Robert Boots, COO, Viega LLC USA
